Semitendinosus and biceps femoris share a common origin at the ischial tuberosity called the conjoint tendon, which is the most commonly affected hamstring tendon. The semimembranosus tendon has a separate origin, lateral to the conjoint tendon. Both heads of the biceps femoris perform knee flexion.
